Turned out to be the tires making most of the noise from getting to wear bars and at least three plugs from punctures. There was still pad left, but gave national brake chain benefit of doubt. Light grooves in rotors, some life left on pads. Intermittent grinding/rumbling noise coming to stop. I supplied most of the brake parts, total cost was $1200. Replaced backing plates and hub bearings as well, couldn't separate hubs from backing plates as they were rusted. Rear brake backing plates rusted completely. engine problem Get notified about new defects, investigations, recalls & lawsuits for the 2010 Vibe: Example: 'Bad Brakes', 'Toyota Recall', etc. Replaced calipers, rotors, pads all 4 wheels, fronts still OK though, and replaced/bled brake fluid. Updated starter motor cranks much faster and problem has been solved. Replaced the starter with an updated new (not rebuild) starter from Denso, Toyota part number 28100-0T051 or GM part number 19205422 purchased from Amazon and installed by mechanic. All other Vibes feature a 2.4-liter four with 158 hp and 162. Original starter release gear would stick causing a grinding noise in very cold winter starts. The base 2010 Pontiac Vibe is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. Replaced just brake pads and cleaned re-lubed all slide pins. Was told it's a common problem on these cars, rear brakes do not do much work in daily driving. Brake pad stuck in rear calpier, not moving freely. The worst model years for transmission problems are the 2003 Vibe, 2006 Vibe, and the 2005 Vibe. The driving experience is sound, but the Vibe is not exactly engaging to drive. The most common Vibe transmission problems cost 2,400 to fix & occur at 83,000 miles. A/C vent was clogged - dealer unclogged it and dried out the mat. Does anyone know of any TSB's or experienced these same problems at the same time? It’s safe to say that the Vibe will always be more affordable, thanks to a little badge swapping. For reference, a search for a Toyota Matrix reveals prices ranging from 2,000 to 14,000, depending on the year and mileage. During that run there are really only two model years to avoid: That makes a lot of sense when you look at. A nationwide search on shows us that we can find a Pontiac Vibe for as low as 2,000 up to 10,000. WRONG! This evening both the AWD disable and Anti-lock brake lights came back on but also I am now experiencing a loss in power when I go over 1/3 - 1/2 throttle. The Pontiac Vibe was in production from 2003 to 2010. So, I thought, cool! that must have been it. Drove the car straight and turned it off, turned it back on and all the warning light went away. So, I had the tire repaired, reset the low tire light. So I searched on the forum that a low tire can sometimes cause those light to go on. The drivers side rear tire developed a small air leak and at some point my low tire warning light came on a short time later the same day the Anti-lock brake and AWD disable lights came on. I did some searches and found out and tried a few things that were suggested the problem went away for a week but now it's back. I have recently been experiencing some issues. Owners have made 139 complaints complaints over 8 model years, mostly about transmission issues. 2010 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003 Worst Model Year 2003 Pontiac Vibe Worst Complaint bearing noise. The Vibe ranks 9th in reliability out of 17 Pontiac models. Overall the worst problem category is Pontiac Vibe engine problems. Here is what I posted on the Aztek forum:Hey, everyone!
